Di tengah kekhawatiran terhadap dampak ledakan bom di Hotel JW Marriott dan Ritz Carlton Jakarta, stakeholder pariwisata Bali dikejutkan dengan penobatan Bali sebagai The Best Island in The World 2009 oleh Majalah Pariwisata Travel and Leisure. “Kami mendapat informasi ini tadi pagi. Tentu saja penobatan ini membuat bangga dan semakin optimis dengan perkembangan pariwisata Bali,” jelas Ketua Bali Tourism Board Ida Bagus Ngurah Wijaya ketika ditemui di kantornya Selasa (21/7). Last Friday’s bombings of the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta did not stop global travel magazine Travel and Leisure from naming Bali its Best Island in the World this year.

The paradise island beat out other unique islands like the Galapagos islands in Ecuador, Kauai in Hawaii, and the Maldives.

The choice was made based on the magazine’s readership survey conducted between January and March this year, using a wide range of categories, including the quality of hotels, restaurants, food, and natural and cultural attractions. Read the rest of this entry »

Last Friday’s bombings of two hotels in Jakarta did not impact heavily on businesses, but must be solved within a month to prevent a potential decline, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin) said Tuesday.

“A quick solution to the case is key to ensuring long-term stability in the business climate,” Kadin chairman M.S. Hidayat said at a press conference at the Jakarta Media Crisis Center in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Read the rest of this entry »
